The New Mystery Annual Lock Museum Happening! is held in Manhattan, at the Lock Museum, General Society Library, 20 West Forty-fourth Street, NYC). New Mystery magazine editors, authors, critics and artists attend the informal reception. Locks, wine, cookies and celebrities are served. Free admission, donations accepted.
Major Bailey Mapp, USAF, received the 1998 Blaggard Award For Best Mystery Short Story for his debut, Not This Time, a tale of marriage on the rocks, adultery, spousal abuse and murder. The debut story premiered on the NewMystery.com website and then in the print edition of the magazine (Summer 97/V#1). Major Mapp is stationed in Charleston, South Carolina.
